The card is made in PVC plastic which is more durable and of good quality. Unlike before, they used card paper, including the lamination film.

1. Postal ID Requirements

This are the basic Postal ID requirements to aquaire it. Prepare all this documents before proceeding to any capture stations nationwide.

  • Application Form [pid_application_form]. (Two Copies)
  • Proof of Identification – At least one of the following:
    • SSS UMID / GSIS ID
    • LTO Driver’s License (Not expired)
    • Philippines Passport (Not expired)
    • NSO Birth Certificate or Local Civil Registry

A. Postal ID Requirements [FILIPINO RESIDENTS] 

I. Download the application form [pid_application_form]. Open and print the form.

II. Proof of identity

Bring two original and photocopy documents.

  • NSO or Local Civil Registry-issued Birth Certificate
  • UMID Card
  • LTO Driver’s License
  • Passport
  • Marriage Certificate for Married females (to validate change of name from birth documents)

III. Proof of Billing/Address (Provide any documents)

  • Barangay Certificate
  • Certified True Copy of Lease
  • Bank Statement
  • School Billing
  • Utility Bill (Electric, Cable, Internet, Water, Landline, etc.)
  • Credit Card Bill




Note: Parent or a legal guardian must accompany a minor or those 18 below. If the applicant does not have any proof of identity listed above, there is another way that can submit any documents. 

Bring any two of the following documents, at least one of which should bear the applicant’s photo and signature.

  • Valid paper-based Postal ID 
  •  Valid NBI/Police Clearance 
  • Old SSS or GSIS card 
  • Valid OWWA ID

  • Senior Citizen ID 
  • Baptismal Certificate 
  • Certificate of Birth/Marriage from the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)

  •  Transcript of Records with readable dry seal (for applicants 18 years old and below) 
  • Marriage Contract 
  •  Valid University/School or Alumni ID 
  •  TIN Card.

B. Postal ID Requirements [FOREIGN RESIDENTS]

I. Must fill up the Postal-ID application form [pid_application_form].

II. Proof of identity (Note: At least six months of validity prior to application)

  • Valid Passport
  • Special Resident Retirees (SRRV)
  • Diplomatic Visa
  • Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACRI-Card)
  • Long Stay Visitor Visa Extension (LSWE)
  • Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)

III. Proof of Address (Submit any one of the following)

  • Certification of a statement of account from the home, transient home, hotel, or any temporary residence within three (3) months prior to application
  • Notarized house, condominium lease contract, or land (if applicable)
  • At least three (3) months issued Barangay Certificate of Residency.
  • Bank Statement
  • School billing statement
  • Credit Card statement
  • Utility bill (electric, internet, water, cable, telephone, etc.)




2. Capture Station

The following procedure is the data capturing or capture station. Look for the biometrics registration such as image photograph and fingerprint, including the digital signature that will record on their database center.

If the documents are completed, submit all the requirements to their data capturing office. It has 260 Postal ID capturing post offices in the Philippines, some located at selected malls.

Note: Rush Postal ID is now available and costs a little bit higher for PHP 650. However, the rush ID processing is available only at the six (6) central post offices in Metro Manila.

After completing the process of data capturing, the new Postal ID Card will be delivered by PhilPost mail carrier:

  • Metro Manila – Estimated for fifteen (15) working days from application.
  • Municipalities and other major cities – Estimated twenty (20) working days.
  • Remote Barangays and Island provinces – Estimated thirty (30) working days.

1. Is Postal ID a Primary ID?

One of the most accessible government-issued IDs is a Postal ID, without any qualifications like travel abroad for a passport, driver’s license for driving skills, or employment for GSIS and SSS. 

It is a primary form of valid identification that can be used generally in any transaction like banks, car loans, etc. Anyone in the Philippines can apply and get it as long as they are 18 years old and above.

3. How Long is the Postal ID Validity?

4. What will happen to the old but still valid Postal ID?

The old PID will remain valid up to its date of expiration. Old but valid postal IDs may also convert to a new Postal ID at a price discount:

5. What is the New Postal ID Security Features?

It has a big difference from the old one, which improved its security features to make more extremely hard to counterfeit.

  • Biometrics captured personal details, including fingerprints, signatures, and photos. These features will prevent other people from faking the new postal ID.
  • Postal ID stored all the information and data of their client in one data center.
  • ID Card features 3D and holographic images with ghost images and UV ink illuminating in UV light.
  • The Postal ID encrypted QR code using the Postal ID application to scan and verify the cardholder.
  • Philpost used the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to collect the cardholder’s information and confirm the authenticity of their identities, which also compared to the Philpost data center.
