Get TIN ID is one of the essential applications to say that you are a Taxpayer in our country. It symbolizes that you are one of the contributors to our society because TAX needs to use to grow our country.

The Tax Identification Number (TIN) is one of the proofs that you are a taxpayer in the Philippines. It can be used as a valid government ID once you apply for any transaction and documents. The taxpayer with a Tax Identification Number (TIN) ID card is assigned only one account, which can use lifetime without expiration.

The Tax Identification Number (TIN) application form has two (2) types, the BIR Form 1901 and BIR Form 1902. The BIR Form 1901 is applicable for Self-Employed and Mix Income Individuals. Yet, the BIR form 1902 is suitable for employed/for employment. This form is downloadable or usually found at BIR offices. You can ask for assistance from their staff so that they will issue you the correct BIR form.

General Requirements for TIN ID

1. Application form for TIN ID

    • BIR Form 1902 – This is the application for registration for individuals earning purely compensation income and non-resident citizens/OCWS/Seamen earning purely foreign-sourced income. [Download Here]
    • BIR Form 1904 – This is the application accomplished by the one-time taxpayer and Persons Registering under EO 98 (Securing a TIN to be able to transact with any Government Office). [Download Here].

2. Identification for TIN ID

  • At least one (1) any Government-issued ID that shows the full name, address, and date of birth of the applicants: 
  • PSA-issued Birth Certificate

Where to Get TIN ID?

All taxpayers throughout the Philippines have one RDO (Revenue District Office) where you can pay taxes, update your tax information, or request your TIN ID. 

However, the assigned RDOs in the Philippines has jurisdiction over their place of residence or business. In other words, where you are registered, RDO is the only place you can get your TIN ID.

How to Get TIN ID for New Employees

If you are a new employee, one of the requirements you must have is the BIR or TIN Number.

You only need to submit or request an:

  • Accomplish BIR Form 1902
  • One Valid ID
  • PSA-issued Birth Certificate

Once complete, forward it to your employer or the company’s Human Resources. However, if your employer does not have time to take care of your TIN ID, you can go directly to the RDO (Revenue District Office), where they registered your TIN. Just bring the requirements needed to get your TIN ID.

After the process, It is possible to release the TIN ID Card within that day. However, if the BIR office has a problem with their system or you are late for the TIN ID registration. It is possible to release it the following day.

How to Get TIN ID for Unemployed and Students?

Yes, students and the unemployed can get TIN ID. It is stated in Executive Order No. 28 that the TIN ID is one of the essential requirements to transact with other government agencies or offices.

You must bring these requirements if you are a student and an employee to get a TIN ID card.

  • Accomplished BIR Form 1904
  • Valid ID
    • Driver’s License 
    • Philippine Passport
    • Birth certificate
    • Community Tax Certificate
    • Passport (for non-resident aliens)
    • Marriage Contract (for married women)
    • Any other document or identification issued by an authorized government.
  • PSA-issued Birth Certificate

Once you have completed your requirements, go to the nearest RDO. Each place has RDOs assigned, where you live or work.

For example, if you live in Quezon City, you can submit your requirements and application to apply for your TIN ID in Quezon City. Just be sure to ask the authorized personnel inside the facility so they can assist you.

Just look for the registration of your TIN ID immediately to avoid wasting your time because you will see a lot of queues inside, and you might not realize that what you are queuing for is for tax payment instead of TIN ID.

After they process your application, they will immediately release it, but if you registered late, let’s say you arrived at noon and handed over the last cut-off, you have to return it the next day to their office to get your TIN ID.

How to Get TIN ID for Existing Taxpayers

If you already have a Tax Identification Number and continue paying your taxes. You can go directly to the RDO, where your employer is registered and pays taxes. You can ask your employer for your TIN information.

If you are in the RDO area, submit your application form and requirements for your TIN ID request. The authorized personnel will verify the taxpayer status and start the process of your TIN ID quickly.

Note: Bring your requirements like a valid ID and PSA birth certificate to verify your request TIN ID.

How to Replace Lost & Damage TIN ID

  • Accomplished BIR Form 1905 (Registration Information Update Form)
  • BIR Form 0605 (Payment Form)
  • Bring the Notarized Affidavit of Loss for Damage TIN ID
  • Marriage Certificate and Old TIN Card (If Applicable)

Note: There is a payment for the loss or damage TIN ID.

The standard payment for replacement ID costs between 150-300 pesos. Do not forget to ask for a payment slip before you pay the fee.

Any updates for the Fake Tax Identification ID? 

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) warned the public about the fixers that offer their service to acquire the Government Identification Card on social media and promise to process their Tax Identification Number (TIN) ID. Earlier this year, an agency reported that BIR and Tax Identification Number ID cards are not for sale on social media platforms. The only way to release and get TIN ID is through their agency.

On January 3, BIR issued the Revenue Memorandum Order No. 2-2019, which declared a Tax Identification Numbers ID card as an accountable form. Additionally, the agency decides to redesign the Tax Identification Numbers ID card, including the serial number.
